You'll find that cigarette tobacco is typically shipped kind of moist, which is what you want for long-term storage or shipping, but it's not that great to use with cigarette making or injector machines. It's kind of important to have your tobacco dry out for just a bit before you use it. You don't want to damage or clog up your machine with overly moist tobacco. It should have a little crisp feel to it. If you spread it out on the table somewhere and let it air dry it will probably get better results. It may take a little while depending on the humidity of where you doing this.
Take a look at the instructions that came with your unit and see where it tells you to place the tobacco. You'll find it's easier to fill the machine by hand verses inserting the tube first, so start by filling the tobacco chamber. Don't overfill the machine and try to fill it evenly. Then tamper it down with the tobacco in place.
While trying not to squash the cigarette tube, insert it into the nozzle. If you crush a tube by mistake, you shouldn't bother fixing it and just discard it. You'll typically get a few extra tubes with each purchase. Close the machine up as per the instructions. The tube should now be locked on to the nozzle.
Gently rack the slide or crank the handle of the machine, depending on what kind you have. If the slide or handle doesn't move easily, then don't force rolling machine. Just take out a little bit of the tobacco. You can probably use something like a toothpick for this. Complete the filling action once you know the machine is no longer overfilled. Open up the rolling machine and remove the finished cigarette.
You can use the blunt end of a pencil to push in any of the loose strands of tobacco that may be hanging out of the front. If there is anything left in the tube nozzle, then it's a good idea to clean it out before moving on to the next cigarette. You don't want to damage your machine with a clogged nozzle. It's really important to keep your machine well lubricated and in perfect working order. If you find any tobacco residue buildup than just use a damp, warm cloth. Try to work oil into the moving parts to sustain it's life, you can use a soft paintbrush dipped in light vegetable oil to do this. Wipe off any excess oil and then work the mechanism a couple of times before continuing to make any more cigarettes. A quality cigarette rolling machine should give you years of service.
